clutch/tranny question
hey guys trying to buy a 89gt 5.0 5spd,when i drove it to see how it runs, starts good sounds good and all,but when i went to shift into 2nd gear the tranny makes a grinding noise i tried 3rd gear same thing it did it with all the giear while the car is moving,it does not do it when the car is runing and not moving it goes thru all the gears fine,my question is would it be the tranny that is bad or the clutch goin bad, clutch pedal feels ok i am not sure it just doesnt feel too stiff either, when i slam on the gas it felt like a auto tranny sliping when the bands are goin out,wel le tme now what u guys think thanks
Synchros? Try releasing the clutch in neutral in between shifts (double clutching) and see if it grinds.

well if you feel any kind of slippage going on its definitely the clutch and that would also cause the grinding youre hearing but beware t-5 trannies are notorious for grinding like that when theire on their way out when you abuse them. i should know i blew 5 of them in 4 months last year including a tremec before i decided to go auto.
