Default can I just put my heads back on?

here's the deal:

car = 93 cobra

goal = get car running

story:
(I'll try to keep it simple)
Took engine down to the short block. I had the heads cleaned up. Now I need to put it back together. I have a manual. I'm pretty good with tools and instructions. Can I just put it all back together? The only thing I don't really understand is timing (i've never set it before)... but I'm pretty sure I can reassemble the heads, intake, vacuum lines, etc...

Any hints, suggestions, smartass remarks....

yep... I will get new gaskets... the exhaust port is matched to a Felpro 1250.. I don't know if they were ported or just cleaned because I don't know what they matched up to (gasket size) before... and the exhaust "bumps" were removed

make sure the surfaces are clean as a whistle, brake cleaner, a bunch of fresh razor blades, and a rag are your best friend.

Don't forget the valve seals on the heads, definitely got to do those while the heads are out.

for the timing take your spout out (little plug lookin' thing just before the distributor in the wire harness) and set it to 14 degrees, replace spout and your timing shoud be fine. like rubberneck said clean surfaces are your best friend for a nice seal.
