whenever you fix it get a shifter with stops, you probally already know that though. that's the first thing i do with any t-5. the one time i didn't put a shifter with stops in i had the same problem your having, but mine would not come out of 4th. the factory shifters let you grossly over shift and unless you're careful it can happen to anyone.
