The EEC-IV in 5.0L Mustangs, regardless of calibration code, have a 6,250 RPM limit. Never trust what the factory tachometer reads as they are very inaccurate at higher RPMs.

For the harness issue....
1986-1989 - These connectors are different (that includes the black one touching my thumb in the picture) from the '90 through 1993 harness. Wire colors changed over these years and I learned the hard way a 1991 engine harness didn't work in my 1988 GT unless I did some serious schematic searches and modifications to the '91 harness.
