Van overheated today, gauge never said it was out of normal range, next thing i know steam is blowing in the van, And it shut down before i could even get it pulled over. Found leaky heater core to be the leak, bypassed that. Since then this has occured:

Start van, Oil pressure ramps up fine, drive random distance, oil pressure slowly drops off to nothing, engine makes noise,,ect. Immediatly shut it off, wait 10 sec, restart, and O.P is fine again, may last 50 yards, may last 20 miles..before the O.P. starts falling off again. Any clue to what causes this wacky shit>?

I ordered a crank kit due to the rod bearing noise i was hearing, and the fact that i think it actualy seized / unseized on me on the side of the road. Does not smoke at all while driving.

 

Is there a such thing as an oil pressure regulator that may have gone out? Someone mentioned that to me, my guess was the same as scotts.

 

turned out to be gunk in oil pan clogging pickup, turn van off, crap would fall to bottom of the oil pan, oil pressure would pick up again.

T-stat was wasted, wouldn't open.

Installed new t-stat, water pump, fan clutch, high volume oil pump. Runs like new.

 

didnt you put a new oil pressure regulator in??? holy hell if you didn't!
