Mustang 5.0 Question
Driving my car around... everything is fine. Next thing i know, the car feels like it misses 2 or 3 times, then backfires really loud a couple of times. It died once when it did this. I'm thinking that it's not getting spark or something.. let me know what you guys think this might be, maybe you have more ideas of things to check.
BTW: I'm going to buy new plugs and wires for it this morning.

If it continues to do it, you might want to replace the TFI module that bolts to the side of the distributor (where the big harness plug goes into). They are notorious for going bad (especially when they are hot, after you've been driving for a bit). It takes a special tool to get the TFI off, but its small and most auto parts stores should carry it.
It also may be the PIP (Profile Ignition Pickup). Its a little module inside the distribotor. Both are pretty cheap to replace and common problems.

When i get the cap rotor plugs and wires in, if the problem persists i'll chk this out because that explains when it happened. We shall see.. thanx for the input

UPDATE:
Well i changed the ignition coil, plugs, wires, dist. cap/rotor and everything seems to be well at this point. I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope that it's not anything else, or something more serious. Thanx again for everyone's input. If the problem persists i'm still going to chk up on that TFI Module because that sounds like it could potentially be the problem.

EDIT: if you know the part# for the special tool to get off that module let me know. Thank you
