Default Mustang 5.0 Question

Driving my car around... everything is fine. Next thing i know, the car feels like it misses 2 or 3 times, then backfires really loud a couple of times. It died once when it did this. I'm thinking that it's not getting spark or something.. let me know what you guys think this might be, maybe you have more ideas of things to check.

BTW: I'm going to buy new plugs and wires for it this morning.

That's when it happened.. been driving for a while (coming up the parkway probably cruising at like 80); water temp was around 180 when the problem started.

When i get the cap rotor plugs and wires in, if the problem persists i'll chk this out because that explains when it happened. We shall see.. thanx for the input

UPDATE:

Well i changed the ignition coil, plugs, wires, dist. cap/rotor and everything seems to be well at this point. I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope that it's not anything else, or something more serious. Thanx again for everyone's input. If the problem persists i'm still going to chk up on that TFI Module because that sounds like it could potentially be the problem.

EDIT: if you know the part# for the special tool to get off that module let me know. Thank you

Okay, now the car runs fine but has a bad idle surge problem.. could this be due to the TFI... thanx
