Looking for a motor

Anyone have or know where a 4 cylinder, preferably diesel motor, is. I am back to building a house generator and need a motor.

go with a gasoline 2.3, you wont be sorry, it will last forever.

With gas I just worry about the fuel consumption. It takes 35 hp and 3600 rpms to make the power and speed to generate 120volt @ 60 Hz. A 2.3 will use alot of fuel at those rpms. If I put a 55 gallon drum next to the motor I want that to last for a few days.

If you only need 35 hp, honestly, I'd get an air cooled VW motor. It will run as long as there is gas in it, most come with a generator instead of alternator (sucks for a car, great for a simple stationary motor), they sip barely any fuel (single carb with a 28mm venturi) and are air cooled so no radiator or hoses to worry about. Plus you can get one cheap.

If you want a diesel, I'd pick up a bargain trader and see if anyone is parting out a Kubota tractor or small pickup. Isuzu, and Ford made small pickups with diesel 4cyls in them. Maybe look for a VW diesel rabbit or something.
