during work my car is parked on the side of tampa rd. three times a week someone stops and wants to buy it, but they always leave disapointed.

about the price drive. i think the main reason they are going up is because you're seeing fewer and fewer on the road. think about it. 15-20 years ago it wasn't a big deal to see a classic cruisin' down in decent original shape. now you notice it because there just isn't too many still left. accidents, neglet, and plain wear and tear take there toll on these cars. imagine what it's going to be like 20 years from now!

and like me with the fox bodys ................ i've sent 5 to the grave. that was happening in the 70's and 80's with 1st gen. mustangs.

This all makes me feel a bit better about my purchase Tanks

However, I still have a dilema... To Eleanor or NOT to Eleanor... THAT is the question. I already have all the body parts.

Where as before, no one even gave it a second look. I look around on ebay and see a 65 stang that is the best example of "Rust holding hands" and they want 4k for it.
yeah they see a similar car on Barret-Jackson go for $100,00 so they think there POS must be worth $10,000 when its really worth $1,000 damn TV driving up restocar prices again.

One major plus for building it as an Eleanor is that they are really popular right now. Based on what I have seen other E cars sell for, mine would be worth $80-$100k when I was done, and I would only have about $40k into it (not counting my 5 years of labor!) I saw a stock suspension Eleanor sell for $52k the other day. The same car without the body kit would have sold for $25-$30k. Hard to believe people pay that kind of money for these cars.

Little late to the thread...but congrats on the purchase.

My vote is to NOT Eleanor. I see this Eleanor conversion as a temporary fad. If it came down to selling the car years down the road, I would think you'd get much more money selling a traditionally restored retro-ish Fastback rather than one with a gaudy Eleanor body kit (I personally do not like the Eleanor style fastbacks). I'd sell the kit and use that money on other things on the car. Just my .02

I'm doing mine in a resto-mod fashion.. won't be a restored car, but it'll be fun to drive.. not even worried about what it might sell for, as I don't think I'll sell it...

Alan - I think the kit is a little busy too - but I did fall in love at first. Im slowly talking myself out of it. However, I think the E cars got enough hype to make themselves a permanent part of mustang history.

Whats the plan for the 70?

newer suspension components (not sure which way I'm going yet, still researching), possibly going to go with a turbo'd 351, shooting for 600rwhp or close to it.. wouldn't mind a KB blown setup either if I went fuel injected with it, the whine would be nasty coming from the car...should be fun to play with.. either a viper spec t-56 or a tko-600, going to keep the look of the car pretty stock from a body standpoint, just a lower stance and probably 17" or 18" wheels (maybe 18"s in the rear 17" up front.. not sure)... larger discs at all 4 corners, overall probably looking to go the way of a g-ride. for a paint color, want to go with a burnt metallic orange with more of a silver boss stripe setup vs. the black..
something along those lines..
