Question Removed A/c And Power Steering Pump..is Water Pump Now Normal Rotation??

I have a 72 351W that I bolted all my 5.0 gear on including an aftermarket bracket that allows the 5.0 A/C to be included. I now removed the A/c and Power steering pump....I believe I now need a water pump that turns clockwise (non reverse)...correct???If so...I need a smaller bolt pattern serpentine pully for the pump....who's got one?? pics to come...

There is another option. When I got the FFR, it had a ford powersteering relocation bracket on it. (it deletes a/c, and puts the PS pump where the a/c compressor goes). Rather than a power steering pump, someone had rigged up a 3" or 4" pulley mounted to the bracket about where the PS pump would go.

That would keep your water pump the same rotation.

Here's the only picture I have of the engine when it had that setup. ( I know it's not very good for showing the setup. I think I've still got the bracket and pulley. Let me know if you're interested and I"ll go scrounge through my parts cans.)

If you keep an idler pulley up where the ac compressor goes, you can keep reverse rotation.

Here is how mine was setup. (Ignore the fact that my photochop skills suck ass)

I don't know. You might be able to route it like the attached picture, but I'm not totaly sure. You would have to change the water pump pulley to a ribbed pulley. There wouldn't be much contact area from the belt to the water pump pulley (although it would need far less than the backside as the ribs have more surface area). And I don't know if the tensioner would extend far enough to tension the setup.

You might try giving Chuck Jones of Jones Racing Products a call. He specializes in accessory drive. He's done just about everything and I'm sure he can give you a pulley combination that will work.

whatever you do make sure you use the correct waterpump pat. I believe leonard is right.
