Wheel help PLEASE!!!
I need some suggestions on what is wrong with the way my wheels are fitting. Here's the skinny of what I have: I bought the 15x8 Weld Prostars with 5-1/2 backspacing and a set of 275/50/15 MT street radials. I flipped the quad shock and dropped the jack, it looked like I had plenty of clearance, took it around the block and it had run a groove in the tire right above the sidewall about an inch wide. It didn't ruin the tire thank god. Today I came home and took the quad shock off completely, dropped the jack and had very little clearance on the inner fenderwell, especially around the spring. I used a rubber body hammer and banged in the inner fenderwell as much as I could. Now it has a gap of about the size of the tip of my index finger by the fenderwell by the spring. How much clearance do I need? Would a small spacer work, but than would I get into an outside fender problem? Any suggestions would help, I'm getting pissed because I got a brand new set of Weld's and I can't even drive my car. By the way the car has Tokico struts and Steeda springs.

The only place I saw it hit was on the quad shock, but I took that off and I could not tell if it hit anywhere else. I just assumed there should be more of a gap. The tire probably expands just a little once they are heated up and I'm just worried it's going to rub that inner fenderwell. How much gap is needed around the tire for it not to rub?

is it a daily driver? if not as long as you have some clearance you should be ok. 275 50's are pretty wide. but they shouldnt rub anything if the quad shock is off. id just drive it and then look for the shiny spots. but your prolly allright now

It's just a weekend car. I just don't want to ruin a brand new set of tires if you know what I mean. I just don't get it, there are a ton of other mustangs out there with this same setup, is mine the only shitbox that rubs?

I had 275/50 bfg's on mine with the quadshocks still on normal and I had no rubbing issues, I'm pretty sure it was a 5.5 bs, too. It did rub on the tail pipes a little though sometimes. Couldn't hear it, but it left a little rubber on the pipes.
