Exclamation 2001 Mercury Cougar ZN problem

I have a '01 Mercury Cougar ZN. My problem is
that My horns stopped working all of a sudden. It works when I activate and Deactivate the alarm. The horns are brand new. Had them in there for less then 6 months. There is live current on the wires but when you press the horn that is on the steering wheel, it wont sound. I cant take off the horn button either because of the airbag, on top of that it has weird ass scews ive never seen before holding it in place. Its in the shape of a triangle and the dealer wants to charge me 2 arms and a leg to fix it. Any suggestions ? Please PM me

They are torx screws. Don't mess with the airbag unless you know what you are doing.

Yea i know how to disable the AIR bag. They dont look like a STAR it looks like a Triangle. A very small one. its really weird. Nobody I know has the tool to take it out.

I had to take out two torque screws to remove the panels where the key goes to start the vehicle to give me room to get to the screws for the horn/airbag. but they dont look like stars. or an allan head. looks like half a Phillips screw head. like a triangle. Its really weird. Any1 know a site that might explain how to take out the horn/airbag. I been on other forums but no1 knows. What sucks is that there is no Manual at the stores to work on 99-02 cougars.

They dont have a Haynes manual yet for the 98-02 Cougars. Does any1 know what store sells the Chiltons manuals???
on the Cougar To disable the airbag you need to d/c the ground wire, then d/c the power wire. let it sit for 2 min while the backup power drains away. then that disables it. to re-activate it/reset it. you need to connect the power first then the ground first, then turn the car on and wait 6 seconds. That could work for other cars too, but dont risk it. I know thats how it is for the cougar, Other cars shouldnt be that differn't though.
