Thumbs down Cooling Fan switch

So my cooling fan wont turn on automatically. I tried to wire a switch to pin 46 on the PCM but could hear the CCRM click to turn the fan on and still no luck. Now Ive wired up a switch to pin 7&8 on the CCRM to turn it on. It works but now Im blowing a 20amp fuse which is for the Alternater. There are 2 wires for the High setting and 2 for the low setting. I cut one wire for the high setting and put the switch to the other one thinking the CCRM was still sending a signal back to the PCM. Still blowing the fuse. Anyone think of a way to wire this switch w/o it blowing the fuse? Or can you think of a reason the fan wont come on automatically?

Ryan, that link I sent you didn't work? The fan switch mod is supposed to be for the low speed fan setting. i doubt your fan motor is bad. Test the motor. Hook a line from the battery to the fan. It should turn on. -Mark

Not that this is likely the problem, but Bryan and me tried hooking up a fan switch and kept blowing fuses. Turned out to be the fucking switch not being rated for the current. Check that as a precautionary measure.

have you considered getting another relay, and wiring it to turn on when the car runs from a key-hot lead in the fuse panel?

I hooked a wire from the fan to the battery and the fan would spin, but like you said, it was very slow.

Mark, no the switch I put to that wouldnt work. I could hear the CCRM click but the fan wouldnt turn on.

Vip, Ive got it wired to a 12V switch, so it should hold. Ill look for a 14V and see if that fixes my problem.

Rubberneck, are you talking abont an ignition switch?

Wow, I wish people would draw me diagrams complete with funny little symbols when I screwed something up in my car
