Has anyone had a tango with the Pontiac GTO? Rumor has it the '05's will have 400 hp at the flywheel, same as the new '05 corvette, which car & driver nailed a 12.7 @116mph! That's as fast as the '04 Z06!

I don't think the '05 stangs stand a chance, I can't wait til' the new Cobras come out!

I heard the GTO's are selling like dogs, far under Potiacs expectations. I haven't seen anyone around Tampa with one.

 

I've seen a couple,I don't think people like the way it looks.Iknow I don't.They are fast though,and no the 05 stangs won't be able to keep up with out a power adder.

 

Whats the weight ratio compared to the two? And gotta remember that the GTO has a larger motor so of course it will put down better numbers, but a lil s/c 4.6 is one mean lil beast. Saleen is already saying their S281E will have 500hp.

 

The '05 mustang GT is 3450 for the 5-speed and 3500 lbs for the auto. I believe the GTO is close to 3550. Wow, 500hp for the Saleen, that's awesome!

 

HP performance twin turbo set up for the 4.6's is brutally nasty, producing crazy #'s. ranging from 560- to over 900 with a built bottom end. Im saving up!!

 

The problem with the GTO is not that people dislike the way they look the problem is they cost $35k for the base modle and go up to about $38k most of us GM types were used to $21k to $30k for an Bbody.. The GTOs do give up about 200 lbs of weight over the Fbody platform.

 

To me the Gto is pretty much a family Corvette. It has all the performance of a Vette plus a back seat.

Yes, it really depends on the driver between the Mach1 and the GTO.

 

05 gto is faster than the mach, but the 04 gto is right even with the mach and infact the mach beat the 04 at the strip but by like 2 tenths of a second
