Can't wait to see this ad..
New Ford ad uses digital wizardry, hands keys to Steve McQueen
If you build it, they will come.
But will they buy?
Ford Motor Co. expects to get the answer next month when a new Mustang television commercial begins airing. The ad is an homage to the tear-jerking 1989 movie "Field of Dreams," in which Kevin Costner portrays a dreamer who conjures the spirits of Shoeless Joe Jackson and other baseball players when he builds a playing field on his farm.
In Ford's commercial, a farmer builds a winding racetrack, which he circles in the 2005 Mustang, due in showrooms next month. And out of the cornfield comes Steve McQueen, the late screen star famous for driving a Mustang in the 1968 action flick "Bullitt."
The farmer then tosses his keys to McQueen, whose likeness is created by a body double and some digital editing wizardry. The spot ends with McQueen driving off in the new Mustang.
Mustang enthusiasts have been buzzing for days on Internet chat rooms about the high-concept commercial. Ford confirmed the accuracy of the storyline described on the Internet.

At first I was thinking...Isn't McQueen dead? Then I read the last part. Sounds like a cool commercial. Can't wait to see it AND the '05 at the dealership (whenever they hit).

I had a chance to get a up close personal look at the '05 when it debuted in Tampa. It seemed really well made. At least fit and finish wise. A lot of attention to detail. Very solid. The windows open a bit when opening the doors then close again when shut, to seal the cabin tight. It's an amazing car. The 500 and Freestyle also seem very tight. If you closed your eyes and touched the interior surfaces you'd think you were in a euro-luxury car.

thats great.. soon as you do anything performance wise and have an issue you'll get raped by teh dealer who'll say its not covered under warranty.
Ford needs to make sure if they are advertising it as a "racey" kinda car they dont get upset when people drive it hard.. same deal with the mach1 .. they advertised it doing smoky burnouts etc etc.. and then a bunch of guys got fucked when stuff broke.. on stock cars doing just spirited driving.. they had been mis-treating the cars..
