Default 5.?

I met someone aprox. 3 years ago who lived in Tampa. I believe he was the President, or at least a board member of a Tampa based car club. He had a mustang that was red or black,96 body style convertable, with a roll cage, a large stroked motor, C-4 with all the ususal goodies. What made this car different was that he was pushing a good bit over 600 to the wheels on motor alone. He talked about putting some spray on it after Christmas. He had skinnies on the front with very wide rear tires, and had some stickers on it that said 5.? / I think his name may have been Chris but i'm not sure. The reason I am looking for him is he gave me a ride in that car. I already had my 89 mustang with a go fast bug, but after riding in his car and I couldn't breath when we accelerated he started me down a whole new path!!!! I know there are a million mustangs in Tampa but this car was very special. If any of you have ever heard of this car or guy please respond. I would like to get in touch with him and show him what a monster he created!! P.S. , I remember the club had a web site and he did some burn outs at hooters. Thanks for your help!!

You're talking about Chris Kelly I beileve (408 Bennet Motor if I remember right). He sold that car a while ago. The car could've been much faster but the converter that he had in it was WAY too loose. The fastest I saw it go was 11s.

I believe the car club used to be/is Modern Mustangs of Tampabay.

397 bennett stroker w/ a hogan sheetmetal intake. Best it layed down was like low 500's on motor(tremec tranny at the time). He never got any #'s on spray with the manual. Like Derek said, that converter was loose as a whore. 5k stall. Completely ruined that car, but that's another story which I won't explain on the net. That car rode out for as heavy as it was(3600+). Once the c4 went in with the crappy converter and spray it went 11.32@118. I think if it had the right converter could have been a nice 10 sec car. Chris was a good friend but made some wrong decisions. He got out of cars and now is really into religion with his new wife. Currently my wife works with the guy who owns the car and I believe it will be up for sale soon. -Mark

Yeah, I remember my little coupe went 4-0 against him at a TR track day. If it's Chris you're talking about, his car was a black convertible with some gold scrollwork and lots of Hooters girl butt prints on it. And yes, it had a whole lot of power with some serious converter issues.

Real good guy. When i bought my first mustang, He went way out to lakeland and picked it up with his trailor and Van. He brought it all the way back to Pinellas to my house and helped me push it up my driveway. Didnt even ask for gas money! Top notch guy, and a sweet car!
