I beleive that is why I have always heard 3.55 is the lowest you want to go with a C4/TH400/Powerglid trans. You just run out of gear too quick. Sorry you haven't worked it out yet scot.

i coulnt make the qtr with 4.30 gears with my manual shift c4, i even hit 3rd before the 1/8th mile.
what gears do you have 3.08, 3.27??? should be plenty for a turbo car. should be good enough for 140's or more out the back end.

We did a roll speed test on the dyno last night and my top end went from 96 m.p.h. to 116. Considering I should be easily in the 130-133 range, I would have to say nope I do not have it sorted yet.
It is going back to the track either tomorrow (if the race happens) or the following week to see just how close I can make it to the end then I will go back to the drawing board from there.

Sorry Scott.
Maybe yu should just say fuck 1/4 mile Et's to hell and just have fun with a stout 5 speed.

While picking up 20 mph is significant, it does sound like something is still not right. Final drive on the C-4 is 1-1 as was mentioned, and with your gearing, the car should make a lot more mph than that before it runs out. Does the converter feel tighter? I would think it would be a pretty noticeable difference considering what you started out with. I got lucky with the converter in the Buick, my mustang took 3 converters and 2 C-4's (one built local, then a PA because I was fed up) before I had a tranny/converter combo I was happy with. Once it's right, you'll wish you dropped the 5 speed sooner, but until then, it's going to piss you off.

you're still running to small of a tire for the power that you're making.
not sure what you're spinning the thing to, but i'm assuming it's not over 7k, which means with the small tire and you're going to have to drop the gear ratio A LOT no matter what converter you put in there which will kill your 60' times and make it a pig out of the hole.. (IMHO)
best of luck man figuring it out though..I'm sure you'll get it..
(if it wasn't difficult it wouldn't be worth it now would it!
)
Gun,
The gear selection depends on your RPM range, I've got a 3.90 in mine with a 'Glide.. but I spin it somewhere north of 7800...
