Everyone's 5.0 mods
I was just wondering where everyone else went with their mods to their 5.0's so i could maybe mix and match and try to come up with a plan to what mods i should go with once i get my 5.0
Im gonna have to start with exhaust cuz ours is rusted(old thread) and i think i want to go with a procharger running on about 14-20 psi. What kind of mods do i need in order to accomplish this without demolishing my engine?

what's your end goal? from there you can build your plan, it'll be easier to implement and cheaper that way (not doing things 2-3 times..)
20psi? I'd start with an R block or Dart block if you're looking to make that kind of power...

in order to run that much boost, your going to need to have a built motor def.
for me, ive just got the usual gears, tremec, 15 in dr's, mass air, TB, and upper and lower intake. i want heads, but im selling the car. now i have a WHOLE lot more than that, thats just the basic shit. it gets the job done quite nicely
you get the idea

As of tonight .. gt40p heads (milled and ported), edelbrock performer rpm intake (ported), comp cam (.499/.499 236/24
, 65mm tb, 76mm maf, 30lb injectors ...
Hasn't been on the dyno, but it should be pretty descent for a stock displacement n/a 5.0.

very nice cars guys, and maybe i shouldnt run that much boost hehe. I wasnt looking to have to rebuild the entire engine or buy a new block or anything. I just want to take this block to its limits and when i can afford it buy a new block. I was reading on turbomustangs.com that these blocks cant take much over 500 hp without the risk of a crack in the block.
So, i am aiming for no more than 550hp until i have enough money to buy a new block(LONG ways away)
After i sell my truck-i am expecting about 9,000 from that- and after i buy the mustang from my grandpa i should have about 5,400 dollars to buy for upgrades.
I am not sure if my grandpa will pay for the exhaust but i know i want a sc i just dont know how much the block can take?

Build the car around the motor, not the motor into the car. Chassis bracing/stiffening, driveshaft loop, reinforce & weld up torque boxes, and/or mildly cage it to keep from pretzeling up the body. Complete aftermarket suspension overhaul to keep the power planted to the ground. Having all that power will do you no good if you can't hook and keep the car straight. Do it right the first time or else you'll be breaking and fixing other things unnecessarily.

We have a winner ! Plan ahead.
Hell my suspension, bracing, etc. has been overkill for my car for years but now it is coming in handy and will be getting a real hard workout in a few more months.
I have always been a fan of this approach because having tons of power mean jack shit unless you can out it to the ground. Well of course unless you are a roll racer only.
