Last night my friend was racing his 95 GT, right after he shifted into 4th the tranny exploded all over the road and the shifter shot straight into the windshield. It had 116K miles on it and we just changed the fluid about 2500 miles ago. We used this synthetic shit that Dodge uses, it supossed to be good. I've never seen a tranny just explode like that, does anyone have any idea why this happened?? Thanks in advance.

 

You tried to put Mopar stuff in a Ford, thats why .

 

Are you sure that the flywheel or clutch assembly did not explode, taking the tranny with it?

well we did a quick roadside check and it looked like the center of the tranny just blew out. also the clutch only has 2500 miles on it.

 

well took it out and from what was left we have 6 pieces. from motor to rear end is gone

Hey when they drug it onto the truck was his rear end locked up or did it still roll free? Also how's his hand doing? I figured he might have a fracture or something with the force it hit his hand and then still having enough force to break the windshield.

Side note. He said he already had 4th gear engaged when this happened, make it all the more

 

Moral of the story? Don't expect t5's to last if you drive them hard.
