lightning has a 4r100 transmission.

I don't think the t56 would work out all that well. For one, I think the 450ft/lb of torque the lightning already makes and it's 4700lb curb weight would be too much for the t56. Plus, think about the shifter. To be able to reach it, you'd need a 30" shifter handle. You'd have like a 10" shift throw.

Why dont Coletti do what he says he was going to do by running the lightning in the dead of winter at Michigan raceway. When the lightning did its test run wasnt it at the desser in AZ giving itslef a less denser air meaning less power, while the SRT had gobs of cold air to keep the air dense? This is what I heard, they can still eave the truck the way it is, well ok take alil weight off and run it in the cold of winter and beat the 154 MPH top speed of the SRT. The lighting hit 147 wasnt it?

you are missing the point of the throw, the t56 handles power well, i e Al's car, my car does fine, many million others...they shouldnt throw 22's on it, that should lighten it up some

expect the new lightning to jump up considerably in price, hopefully thats one battle that ford will win

this second gen L is much heavier than the first gen L and made a lot of people unhappy, but they got a blower motor from teh factory.

as for a t56 in a 4700 lbs truck (add my 220 lbs ass in there and it is close to 5K lbs) and you will have NO traction + hell on clutches. sure al does it, but lets see him do it at 5K lbs. he is at 3300 lbs give or take. i enjoy the fact that the 4r100 tranny is damn strong and has a hard hitting convertor from the factory. 2.0 str stock!

i would say absolutely NO to a manual tranny. the L is all about handling and 1/4 mile. make it handle better is easy. to make it hook well on a t56 and bit tq? tough!
