The Lightning is equipped with a heavy duty 4R100 transmission with a dual plate lock-up torque converter.
The external case is the same as the F-150, but all internal components are from the F-250 7.3L DIT Powerstroke diesel version of the 4R100 transmission to handle the added torque.
The Lightning is equipped with an Auxiliary Transmission Cooler package, which helps maintain the condition of the transmission fluid.
NOTE: Refer to the F-Super Duty Workshop Manual for any diagnosis or repair procedures.

There ya go direct from a ford site..

Take a look here at the specs for all the different T-56's. You'll see that while some of them are rated for 450lb-ft, none of them are rated for more than 3968lbs.

The torque rating for given transmission will be for a given vehicle weight. Add the weight and you add stress to the components. Decrease weight and you decrease stress.
