Question shifter installation

Just purchased a UPR bluethunder shifter and I’m having problems. After installation on my 89 mustang GT it is hard to fully select gears and reverse does not work, period. Anybody have experience with these shifters? I tried adjusting the bolts that limit the shifters travel, but still doesn’t work right. It does say T-5/T-45 on the shifter. Any information will help. Thanks.

Sometimes it will stick to the stock shifter when you take it out (if I remember correctly, its been about 4-years since I've put a shifter in a Mustang). Look on your stock shifter and see if anything is stuck on the ball portion.
