rebuild costs

What am I looking at if the following holds true?
Polish crank journals
Bore/hone block .010 over
rings
cam bearings
main bearings
rod bearings
gaskets
(other incidentals i missed)
Longterm (1-2 years after the car is on the road), I want to build up something really potent with an R302 block. (High RPM, High compression.. the whole 9 yards). I'm trying to decide if it's better for me to rebuild this or to pick up a low mileage shortblock, move the heads and EFI stuff over and disassemble the spent block as a learning experience.

go buy one from blue oval corral, call chad they have good deals 727-571-1996 i think
I have an 89 gt motor sitting in my back room. The motor has over 120k miles it looks like it only has like 20k.Look for the crosshatchings on the sides of the cylinder walls.I can see mine clear as day!.ALSO look at the original bearings and see how bad they are worn out<If they are worn out realllly bad they will be a goldish color everywhere if its normal use it will be a fine minute gold finish.Hope this helps a little and oh yea the new short bloakc and all that crap lol you could build an r block
.
remember 87-92 forged pistons years 86 had flat top forged.
If your worried about the block take it down to a good machine shop and tell them you want it cleaned and checked out.

+1 for blue oval, he has alot of engines sitting in that place. if he doesnt have one then he could get you one in no time for a good price.

i rebuilt a 5.0 in my garage for about $250. new bearings, rings, etc... honed the cylinders myself. all new gaskets. Easy as can be with a good library book (for the torque specs) and a torque wrench. took me 5 days working on it 2-3 hours a night (from in-car broke to in-car fixed). car ran another 20K miles (including 4 trips from Tampa to Memphis at 3K round-trip miles each) before i traded it in for my '98.
easy as can be
