Take into consideration the metal being cleaned off and spot less b4 you gave it to someone

But also if it was painted that the powder coater had to strip it for you

take those into some consideration I would like to hear some in put trying to price some things out

I only pay for the powder through a friend (just does random stuff as a hobby)...not sure if you can beat that price.

I'd pay for powder. I know of some people who use a toaster oven to do small parts. I'm single, so the oven in the house is fair game.

POWDER COATING SYSTEM

Powder coating is tougher than conventional paint, easy to use and clean up, and covers better. This system provides a minimum 80% transfer efficiency and uses standard powder paints. Includes powder coat system, foot switch, power sourcer, inline filter and two powder cups. 10-15 PSI required input air pressure.

ITEM 42802-4VGA
$79.99

not sure what others charge, but If I were doing it I'd charge the cost of the powder/materials plus $25 ea. Other parts would be more if more complex. Your time is worth something, that's what others tend to forget...

Also remember that prep is going to consume much of your time. Everything has to be stripped down completely to the metal surface, and stripping wheels is a bitch (took me 2-weekends to strip one OEM wheel using aluminum stripper).

You may think about investing in a sand or bead blaster. There is no way around you having to do the prep yourself...I wouldn't trust a customer to prep the item correctly.

I dont pay anything since i do it all myself, but for the sake of posting, here's what i usually get for things:

prices include minor prep work (beadblast, wash). If more is needed then prices should be adjusted accordingly. Prices do not include special effects (flames, etc...). Powders requiring multiple coats (base/clear, base/mid/clear) add $5 per step.

Control arms $50/pr
Air cleaner (carb) $30
Alternator housings $30
Brake drums/calipers $50/pr
Brackets $10-$25
Carbs $75 (much more prep work)
Carb intake $75
Large tunnel ram $100-$150
5.0 upper/lower $100
4.6 2v upper $35
4.6 4v complete $150-$175
Oil pan $40-$50
Pulleys $40 for a set
Spindles %50
t-stat housing $20
5.0 Timing cover $40
Trans pan $25
valve covers $50/pr (4cyl $30)
water pump $40

This is a short list, and is definitely not set in stone. There is definitely a "friend" discount, etc...

edit: ricers are charged double as the powdercoat will actually add up to 20 rwhp. outrageous colors such as kawasaki green and bright orange are charged to ricers at triple due to the massive amount of rwhp those colors give.

Bad idea. The curing process releases a vapor that will fuse to the oven itself. The vapor is VERY bad to inhale as well as consume via food that has been cooked in the oven.
