I can see both sides:

1. Love the pride in doing something myself
2. Having things done right

Most of the time, unless you have the skills and the expensive tools, the two do not go hand in hand. Personally, when it comes to turbos, I'd rather have it done right by having one fabricated specifically for my car. It is sometimes cheaper, and it is a guaranteed fit.

I always look at turbo/supercharger kits as a generic kit. Basically they give you pieces that should fit your car, and sometimes you end up having to get stuff fabricated anyways (adding cost). In my opinion it is easier/cheaper to have someone start from scratch rather than modifying something which is already fabricated. Because a one-off kit is custom fabricated for YOUR car, little things like pounding out a portion of the firewall or "modifying" the k-member can be avoided just by routing things a bit differently.

I agree with 351coupe on this one, some of you are splitting dick hairs on the matter of kits or building, whatever, you say tomatoo I say tomatoe, but PTK has a great selection in kit form, and there is always a way that you can upgrade to something for minimal charge or even downgrade.

One can split a dick hair? :o

I think people here are really trying to say that no kit is bolt on. They always require some sort of fabrication, some simple, some more complicated. Each to his/her own though. I'm sure the car will be a terror either way...can't wait to see his project completed.

Thanks guys for all your imput, that's what makes this a great forum.I can see both side of this discussion, but, the cost of the componants/upgrades in the kit I purchased would be alot more expensive if I were to have a custom job done.I know and fully understand that I WILL run into problems along the way and I am ready to tackle anything that arises. That is why I chose PTK because they have gone through all the complcations and will build my kit for my car.And again thanks for all your opinions.Plus,I might just be "assembling"my kit,but after it's done I can look at my time slip and say,I did this, and that my friends would make me very proud.

Of course, and while I'm sitting there trying to look useful and help, I'll bring the sledgehammer.

Good deal, mine is mostly a pro turbo kit but they probably wouldn't recognize it by the time I get finished getting it all installed. There's plenty of work left intalling a kit to suite Dave's definition of building it yourself, I think.
