I thought about it,but the cost is to much.Labor is a big thing to me,specialty things I can't do like trannys, port work, and tuning but to pay someone to put together a turbo kit with the parts I have to buy?
Scott, how much did you spend on parts and labor? If you would not like to share with me thats cool, just curious.I spent right at $5,000 on everything which includes a T76 GTStrim,a 700hp pump gas,1000hp race gas intercooler, tial 50mm wastegate, and all the headers/piping,clamps everything.Just have to do it myself then bring it some where and get it tuned.Saves alot of money to put into something else, plus I'll have fun building it myself. Not downing anyone that wants to get a custom one done by no means,go right ahead. And from what I hear Sam and them are badass, but I will build my own car.

going off of this assumption, NOBODY really ever does the work on their cars. In order to actually "do the work" on a turbo, you would have to mine the metal, forge it, cast it, form it in to a turbo housing, form the bearings inside, etc...

technically, 95% of the work that we do to our mustangs in "bolt on". Very little of it is actual fabrication of parts. If the man wants to buy a kit and put it together, I can definitely relate to the feeling of satisfaction in looking at a finished product and saying "i put that together...i did the work".

Would it be different if he bought each component separately and pieced it together instead of buying a kit? I think that if there is a well rounded kit containing the parts that you would choose anyway and it was a substantial savings to purchase in kit form, would that not be the ideal route to take?

Sorry...i'm not trying to be an ass, either. We have a lot of mustang kids here in Memphis who have never even changed oil, but they talk about how awesome their mustang is...but it's not built, it's bought.

my 2/5 of a nickel.
