Alan,

I don't think the Cobra IRS is worth swapping to. You'd be better off with the 5 link or a torque arm/panhard bar setup.

I definately realize the 8.8 is going to be the most competent rear suspension. What my concern is driving daily with that setup on the street. While I have never actually ridden in a 3 or 5-link Mustang, I have been told by 99% of those who own them that they are a little "harsh" for the street. To be honest, I really want to take a ride in one. I've had to deal with some pretty stiff suspension setups before (the coilovers on the Focus were pretty harsh at times)...so I'm not a "wuss" when it comes to that sort of thing. I just don't want to constantly piss my pants because my kidneys are being compressed over each little bump.

I had 650 lb/in coilover springs in the rear of the Cobra. (450lb/in coilovers up front). (1600 lb/in wheel rate)

It still needed work out back.

The bigest problem with the IRS is the bushings. Under load, they compress and eventually one side looses traction and the bushing unloads. (causing a wheel hop). It returns to a neutral position and regains traction, but the shift causes the other side to loose traction and hop as well. The only guys I've know to truly 'eliminate' wheelhop have replaced their bushing with delrin (it's a hard nylon like substance). That doesn't even eliminate the wheelhop. It's just so hard and compresses so little that the frequency of the wheel hop becomes so high that the wheel essentially hops 0 distance. Because the travel is so near 0 you don't do any damage to stuff.

just get the aluminum bushings for the diferential, the mm bushings for the rest of them

he's concerned about how comfortable a torque arm/panhard bar will be on the street and you say go for aluminum bushings???

yep im saying that, have you rode in a 03 cobra with the aluminum bushings in the differential compared to stock?
