Call me crazy, but I don't think Ford engineers had "economy" in mind when they decided to produce a limited run of factory turbo Mustangs producing 200hp/240ftlb with Koni adjustable dampers, 5-lug wheels, 4-wheel disks, etc. The "Premium Fuel" switch upping the boost rating to 14-15psi was also NOT an idea to conserve fuel.

The last thing I want to do is start some kind of argument. I still think the Focus/Escort is a decent little car. I just decided it wasn't worth the money to fight a losing battle trying to make that car semi-quick. I just feel now I have a better canvas to work with to achieve my goals.

I agree with that one there, hehehe...

I agree though, no need for an argument. I will say though the statement "Atleast its still a Mustang", by graves come on man that is a dumb thing to say. I guess I should have less pride in the car I chose than the one you did because its not a Stang. A turbo Focus or Turbo ZX2,etc. is no less of a car than a 2.3L Turbo'd Stang. Pretty much all the same essence there. Except one came factory and RWD, the others have bolt on kits and are FWD. Still the same flavor though, 4 banger with F/I. and all FORD.

If I was the owner of that focus I think I'd go through the roof. Built bottum end and turbo'd and when he drives it around regularly it has 220hp. I'd ask for my money back.

Escort, not a Focus

Either way, I would probably feel the same. I don't know if its Turbo Tom's Octane dependable tuning or what but I, like you would demand a better tune for 93 Octane, screw making all the power on race gas. I want power on pump gas. But 220hp is nice in a car that weighs anywhere from 2363 (GVW on my door jam) to 2500lbs(Average for ATX's, etc.). But for the money put into it, yeah more Daily drive power would be a must.

JFWY Escort guys. Come on I drive a friggin Ranger. My 150 or so hp fro mthe factory is nothing to brag about . LOL. To each their own. I have seen a few nice Escorts but then again I see many more with mommies dirivng their kiddies in em. At age 16 I got my first of 3 Mustangs. It was a N/A 4 banger. T- tops. I thought I was god. LoL.

I just see it liek this , with what the guy probably spent to get that zx2 where it is at he could have almost had an STI or EVO 1/4 paid off that already had more HP... an AWD !

With that last sentence, hehe I see your point. Basic new ZX2 of the lot, 10-12k. Turbo Tom kit + Built Long block, 10k. 22k, average give or take, definitely alot of money and not my taste, but a certain EXPENSIVE cool factor....

And people wonder why the 240/SR swap combo is so popular. Factory turbo setup, proper engineering, over-built bottom ends and in the long run way cheaper. Like the SVO (and most factory turbo cars), it is much easier to upgrade when all of the factory groundwork and years of testing/R&D from a major auto manufacturer.

To me, it just seems silly to throw all of that money away for the sake of being "unique." If I am going to stand by something in quotations, I prefer the following words: fast, reliable, cheap, properly engineered.

22k total for something that is easily eclipsed with a stock bottom end SR and 2k in upgrades. To each their own.

Moral of the story: A fool and their improperly spent money are soon laughed at.

Point well made.

Like said above, I just figured I'd share. There has until now really only been 1 bolt on Turbo kit for the ZX2 and that was the GUDE kit, which had its own problems, so I figured I'd share the newest one. I can't condone 22k for a Turbo ZX2, but I will keep you guys for the hell of it and sake of conversation up to date on this particular car's Track times, etc.

It'll certainly be interesting, that much I can say. Not quite twin engined turbo Tiburon interesting, but interesting nonetheless.
