if it bone stock i suguest a quick tune up part that goes by the name PULLEY!!!! my supervisor has an 02' and put a pulley and crap on it so now its making like 16lbs of boost!!!!! once you do that though you will be wanting a good suspension cause one you get more power in em they dont hook worth a shit on stock parts.

also a good choice going from the rice to da domestic muscle.
It comes with great suspension already man.And I believe it has a 9 1/2 inch rearend.

Thumbs up

Well, its actually a 9.75 inch rear Goop And the stock suspension does do pretty decent with drag radials. If you want to get really crazy with it then you have to start messing with the suspension to hook. Lots of guys easily into low to mid 12's with bolt ons on the stock suspension with good tires (drag radials or slicks). Also, its 450 tq, not 390 - they make a gob of torque very quickly.

Be very careful on the spark plugs. I forget exactly what it was but there were 2 sets of plugs for that head and one had a longer set of threads and one had a shorter.
I found this out the hardway when I blew a plug right out of the head! The local svt dealer will know what i'm talking about. They didn't even question me about it and just put a new head on the L. Gotta love the warrenty.

Yep - its a common problem on the L - blowing spark plugs out. I haven't had that problem but have talked to lots of others that have.

All these ideas are great for your truck but unfortunately they all have repercussions. Ejecting spark plugs is not a problem on the Lightning it is a example of cause and effect. You need to talk to someone who really knows what's up. I will PM you with his email address.

All mods have repurcussions. Each person needs to weigh risk vs. gain on what they want out of their vehicle. Ford knows there is a problem with spark plugs being blown out on these trucks. Its happened to hundreds of trucks, modified and non modified, on every Lightning board/club out there. Do some research and you'll see how many its happening to. Its obviously a problem and its not just happening to trucks that are modified. Yes there are ways to prevent it - but that doesn't make it any less of a problem or flawed design by Ford.

Since you seem to know so much, why don't you share your source of infinite wisdom about the Ligthning with us?

Here is quite a bit of info about spark plugs being blownout on the 5.4. For all of these people to be going through this, I think its a problem.....These are just a few links - I could probably post pages and pages of them.
