Default anyone here break a lot of lifters?

ive managed to loose 3 lifters in two different events....i have the x303 cam and its still rev limited to 6250....seem to be breaking the wrench looking keepers...which in turn allows the roller to turn sideway on the cam...thus causing havoc...any one else have this happen...this often?..im thinking valve spring bind...or float maybe?

The cam is not limiting you to 6250 your processor is (if still a stock computer).

As far as breaking the lifters you may have too much preload on them. How are you adjusting them? Do you have stud mount or pedestal?

After this is solved if you have the shortblock to handle the rpms you may want at minimum titanium retainers and maybe look into some of the different cam companies newer profiles (kinda like the AFM Hi-Rev stuff) as the ramp rates have improved dramatically over the X cam.

Just curious but why are you trying to spin it over 6k? What is your combo?

Do you own a Torch Red FRC and tremble every time you drive under I75 on Hwy 60 and look in your rearview mirror? If so you are suffering from what is known as Cobraphobia.

im not trying to spin it any higher...i was eluding to the fact it is fuel injected..with the 6250 quote...i have harland sharp stud mount adjustibles...it always had a sewing machine sound to it at idle...what do you think of the tfs cam ...or maybe just go solid roller?

wouldn't go solid roller unless you like to get in and adjust your lash on a regular basis (even with a stud girdle). Of course this depends on how often you drive it on the street, if you do at all.
If you're purely a race car and class allows for it, then I'd say sure go for it (btw, I've got a set of comp cams solid rollers for sale - $150 used for one season... )
What lift are your springs set for?
correct length pushrods?

1.6 rockers....yes its ugly everytime it happens...i bought the springs with the cam...ill be checking spring travel first thing this time....just wondering if anyone has actually lost the keepers without any other obivious failure...maybe i should try pedestal mount rockers....but again..the whole time it ran...the valve train was noisey....anyone else have an x303...and did their valve train sound sewing machine - ish?

I haven't, but try talking to Joe @ Fordspeed on this board, he's got a pretty good background on high winding hyd. cam setups..
T/S #25 or S/W#25 is his board name.

If you need them I have my stock lifters I'll sell ya for $20

I just bought a set of Crane replacements for $160 as a little insurance against the higher spring pressure I'm running.
