Default Rear Suspension

Whats the best course to go with rear suspension, for getting traction on the street and strip?

I'm not talking about buying $3000 worth of stuff, just the first things that should be changed ?

Upper and lower control arms would help a bunch. There are quite a few deals out now so shop around.

The X2C Motorsport Boxer arms are a steal at $139 for upper and lower.

Do you own a Torch Red FRC and tremble every time you drive under I75 on Hwy 60 and look in your rearview mirror? If so you are suffering from what is known as Cobraphobia.

One thing I've never understood is how stock length control arms can improve traction so much. I don't doubt for a second that the stock arms flex, I just can't see how boxing them or getting stronger stock length arms can help as much as a set of Southsides that change the instant center.

Good swaybar will help keep the rear end straight and planted both corners and drag racing

Control amrs would be the best. Im going with the steeda boxed uppers and the tubular lowers

adjustable uppers will help set the pinion angle, adjustable lowers are kinda redundant.

Or get the Steeda front drag sway bar. But I think Zate still wants to maintain normal driveability (i.e. not feeling like the car will fall over on its side when turning a corner).

Zate...what ever happened to the IRS swap? If you keep the IRS, definately get some adjustable upper and lower control arms if you can afford it. I was quite pleased with my HPM Mega-bite Jr's on the '87. THey were fixed uppers with 2-way adjustable lowers. Steeda also makes a very nice set of control arms.

Whatever you do, make sure it either has a greasable fitting to pump grease into the bushings (I think most have these) or has those graphite impregnated bushings to reduce squeaking/binding.

i had some other stuff come up and couldnt afford the timenor money to do the IRS swap..

thinking of adjustable uppers and lowers.. and a swaybar right now..

oh and some springs.. but not sure what ones.. i basically want to improve the overall handling.. both on the drag strip.. and around the street.. certainyl dont want it to take corners any worse than it does now.. better if possible..

Ditch the uppers and put in a torque arm and panhard bar.
