Hmmmm...this could be fun
So some guy on FocalJet is looking to convert his Focus to RWD...and he found this bellhousing for under $500:

Allows anyone to mate a T5 tranny to the Zetec 2.0l. So this got the wheels in my head spinning. This setup with a nice IRS in the rear would make for a pretty balanced car. Build a motor to put out a conservative 300 hp, and it could be one hell of a fun auto-xer.
To do this all that is really needed is relocated motor mounts, modified transmission hump (the focus already has room for the driveshaft), a rear end, and a fuel cell. Of course figuring out the flywheel, starter, and some electronic gizmos would also add to the fun. The K-member would probably need to be modified, but I think you could get away with using the Kugell modified k-member used for the V8 swap. This setup would also allow more room for a quad throttle body or carb setup. Hmmmmmmm........

Or better yet, keep your Focus stock and build a Locust kit car with this setup. Those cars weigh about 1200 lbs complete, so even a mild Zetec would do it right.
Do the Duratech and Zetec motors share a bellhousing pattern?

The v-8 conversion has been out for a while, you can get a no weld bolt on kit for like 5,500 less motor.

About time to get one of these projects under way isn't it ?
Sounds like a do-able idea to me.
