Not quite. The Zetec in the Focus has a different head design, and an entirely different transmission/drivetrain which is actually much more rugged than the one found in the ZX2.

I wasn't bashing on your car, but your bashing on mine wtf is that. If you have a problem with me or my car I'll gladly talk in tells about it. That's the exact reason why Ford don't get as much support as it should in the aftermarket alot of times, because they can't even respect their own companies' vehicles that they drive. Oh well done ranting on this thread because it will go on forever. Of course eventually the Focus will get better and better than the Escort. Ford weeded our cars out to get a foot in the high demand euro compact car market "world car" style. As far as performance goes, from my own experiences, I can take any 4-door base model focus without a problem on my stock SPI vs their stock SPI, I can take the ZX3-ZX5 5-speeds that are stock with the Zetec to my SPI. They get me on the handling due to the upgraded suspension my family sedan did not recieve . I think the biggest difference is the fact that my car, weighs 100-200lbs less depending on which model focus you're comparing it to. The escort also has a smaller wheelbase, which means there's more potential for handling ability with the right tuned suspension.

All in all, I hope Ford does work on their customer service and quality of their mass production vehicles, we all know they need to.

I wasn't bashing you or your car...just Escorts in general. I am a true car lover at heart and I have much respect for anyone willing to put their hard work into whatever car they have.

However, I still stick by my guns by saying the Focus is overall a much better car than its predecessor.

My '02 has had nary a recall. I had a sensor go bad in the head, and a problem with the sunroof. I don't care, because I have a 5 year, 57k mile unlimited bumper to bumper warranty. The guys at Ernie Haire's service department always take care of me. So nah!
