Default Race fuel?

My 2 cents,

I am no expert but you should be careful running race fuel in your car. Basicly the higher the octane of the fuel the slower it burns. That is why you need it in higher compression engines to prevent pre-ignition. All gasolines, race or otherwise, are fundimentally the same hydrocarbon chain and work the same. Race fuels do not contain some mystery additives which make a bigger bang(more power). They just are the nessecery evil when you have high compression or high boost/NOS with high compression. There are fuels other then alky and nitro which have higher oxygen properties allowing them to burn hotter(bigger bang=more power) but they are very expensive $50 gallon.

I just hate to see people waste money if they don't have to. I would rather see you put pump gas in your car and buy all your friends sodas with the extra money.

I personally run 93 octane pump gas in my car and have had no change with race fuel. If you like the way it smells then go for it, but I would save my money.

He may be talking about his experience with his last car, a plymouth laser awd. I believe you were running 17 psi, stock fuel system, right kenny? At that point it was probably the reduction in knock and increase in timing advance that would make that difference, right?

But there should be no need for it with his new naturally aspirated car... but he must have his reasons, I suppose.

I agree with the above two posts...if your not having any detonation issues...use the 93. I lose hp when going from 93 to 100 octane on motor unless I give it a little more timing...but then it usually only brings me back to were I was with the 93 and less timing.

Don't know about the Nutec or Ultimate-4, but I can bring some VP 110 if you need.

Agreed with Fast240,when I put a mix of 93/110 in my stock GT,I dropped two tenths in the 1/8th.It sucked because I had to keep running shittier times than I was used to.

I guess i am just gonna have to run through the box with all four tires. I need to wet them a little to clean them off. Trying to spend them dry will result in bad wheel hop which is murder to weak nissan trannies. Does anyone have a definate answer or what?
