Why i"m not going to put one in a ford. i made 283 rwh with a stock bottom end,stock ported heads stock compression,and a edlebrock intake,E cam and exhaust.now convert that to the flywheels and i get 343 at the fly wheel. Now i know I could get much more power out of it with more compression,more cam and bigger valves and even more port work.with that I think I could get at least 380 fwhp with modded stock parts. no point for me to buy a LS1. i have no problem with the LS! but I don"t like it when people(not tr guys) 302 sucks,can"t make any power just because they are a bunch of dumb jackass that just throw missed match combs that don"t make power. I love the little motors. besides the block splitting in half the great engine to build. let the shit talking begin.Let it being with Shaun lol! this is all in fun

im not saying ls1 is no good or that the 351w is better im just saying if you are going to compare motors atleast have around the same size motor

is stock exhaust,headers,intake air box. i 7.7 with stock heads and ecam with 2:73 running gear.less cubes and small heads.5 speed. p.s with my hatch car

Like Shaun said cam only and its a small cam at that. That was also on the stock 4 cyl suspension and as Shaun has seen, very small tire about a 225 60 15. 100 shot it runs 10's all day. Thats just leaving it in drive and press the gas.
Now would I build one, hard to say as I bought this car this way and it was a great deal. In stock form I believe the LS based motors are a better motor for hp as they repond to cams unreal, unlike the 351's that also need good heads such as P heads or good aftermarket heads. LS1 heads, the older junk castings flow almost 270-280 in stock form and then with some CNC work 243 castings will flow over 300 cfm. Its hard pressed to find a good set of Ford aftermarket heads that will flow over 300 cfm. but when your modifying a motor then I think it would be about the same Ford or Chevy. If I did it again I would like to build a 302 AOD single turbo coupe.
But this is what happens when you have the best platform (Coupe) The cars just work no matter what you put in them
