I noticed it said his helmet came off, we recently had a kart race where a kid's helmet came off in a crash. You have to take some personal accountability, the chin strap is supposed to be tight, it's not supposed to be "comfortable" dragster guys only have the thing on for 30 seconds at a time, so suck it up and fasten the helmet strap, there really is no excuse for that. Unfortunately it states he had head injuries, hopefully it wasn't because the helmet came off. About the time you think it can't happen to you, it will happen to you. I know, it happened to a friend of mine, he has never fully recovered from his head injuries and has never raced again.
That being stated, our prayers go out for his full recovery, I hope he has no ill effects from this.

at the same time tracks also have a responsibility to make sure that cars meet certain requirements to be safe. Not sure if anybody remembers but at Sunshine years ago a guy died after loosing control of his car. Partlly his fault as he was drinking openly out there and his car had muffler tubing for a cage. The muffler tubing in his car was well known by everybody out there and a standing joke also among track personel. well nobody was laughing when it happened after you saw his car.
