Theres 2 sides to every story, the "shop" is legitmate and there was nothing illegal there. In fact their still operational. I don't know the details of what may of happened in the past, but sometimes jumping the gun is worse than the actual offense.

All you can do is what people have said. Don't have people over unless you know them. You can also do things yourself that will allow you to recover your property if stolen (lojack, others). I'm in IT. I don't want to be specific, but if you've driven in my neighborhood, I have enough info to send the cops to your door, lol.
