Need some edjumacation guyz -
  • Blow-thru carbs
  • C-4 tranny

Cam is soon completing the 87 Coupe --- 347 carbed, and pushing air with a P600B Supercharger through Vic JR's. We do not know jack about BT carbs, any tips and deals out there?

Secondly, we wish to start with a C-4 (we have a TCI product to re-build/modify) transmission and really would like to find a local builder for this part of the project that uz guyz have used and trust. Ultimately we plan to go PowerGlide here.

Go here and read up. TheTurboForums - Index
A BT carb is just a couple simple mods. I wouldnt build a C4 just to get a glide later. the C4 needs alot of $ to get tough enough.

The good part is that a supercharged car is easier to tune than a turbo. On my wagon, the only real thing that i did was to put vent tubes on it. Save your self hours and by a wideband. Make sure the fuel system is good enough.

If you want to buy a carb, get a hold of Brent Davis on turboforums, he has the best setup for this stuff. I sent our CSU carb to him to make it right.

Thanks ... I am sure more questions will be on the way, though

As learned from John, I will never have a car (turbo or n/a) without a wideband. They are an extremely valuable tool for tuning. Without one, you are just guessing. For example, i am still running a little on the safe side and I am at 11.5 A/F at WOT. There is NO WAY you would ever know if you are running lean or rich without one. And we all know running too lean=BOOM. You can get a brand new Innovative Lc1 kit (with gauge, sensor and everything needed to hook up) for $187. You cant beat that.

Back ... any tips on the powerglide use behind the 347? I here JW is good stuff, anyone aware of their product quality? Anyone know of one for sale or a local builder?

Do we have someone who can go through the TCI C-4 so that we can use it for another car (DD with mild mod 5.0) here at TR?

Will pursue the BT Carb issue later in the near future

Stock case glide will take you a long ways. I'll be going PTC. Have chevy bell machined off and a JW bell bolted on.
