Default Dead Hookers 12 race results

Well I didn't expect a new personal best cause the weather wasn't cold out. The DA was around 897ft after I calculated it when I made my best pass and mph. First pass off the trailer I hit 114.75. But with a lack luster 1.60 60ft. In summary, all my new suspesion parts installed I still couldn't get the car too hook like it used to. Total of 8 passes here are the best 4.

First pass off the trailer:

r/t .056
60ft 1.602
1/8th 7.60
mph 90.28
1/4 11.90
mph 114.75

Stiffen up the shocks 2 clicks and tried again but blew the tires cause my 2 step box is finicky when trying to quickly stage and set the 2 step. So it resulted in a 7200 rshared_pm dump. Third pass I got if figured out. Set the 2 step at 6200.

r/t .166
60ft 1.623
1/8th 7.61
mph 90.23
1/4 11.927
mph 114.67

I'm starting not to like this damn 2 step. I think with the clutch to the floor and dumping it, it shocks the tires. On a typical n/a 4v a 6200 launch would bog. So I said F it. Turned the damn box off and tried it old school. Preloaded the clutch and tried to eyeball the rpms and watch the tree.....

r/t -.088 lol. I guess thats why people use 2 steps.
60ft 1.574
1/8 7.683
mph 89.26
1/4 12.008
mph 114.62

On the launch I could tell it hooked harder but I guess I got antsy and didn't hit my shift points. But that was my best 60' all night.

I tried a few different shock settings and didn't get any better. a few 12.1's and one 20 sec pass cause it just spun through the 60ft and aborted the run. Well after a I ate a lunchable (I love those) I went back to the staging lanes and tried it again...without the 2 step....

r/t .041
60ft 1.659
1/8 7.592
mph 91.32
1/4 11.86
mph 115.80

Couldn't believe that mph. This run the DA was 897. The rest of the runs were probably a little higher. This is the first trip I've been to the track and every pass the car was trapping 114 or more. . But I'm staring to think that... A. my clutch is killing the initial hit, too much power going to the tires and B. my 2 step is great for bracket racing but not for trying to get a high rshared_pm car to launch hard. If I ease into it I don't shock the tires as hard.

So now I'm going to re plot my suspension. Going to get the IC farther out. This will also lower my AS below 100 but I think with the shocks I can stiffen them up to get rid of some of the squating. Not too shabby for a stock 4.6 thats never had the valve covers taken off.

Thanks for reading.

-Mark

Nice runs!!! Has the trans ever been "into" launching at 7200?
Did you miss shift points after the 1/8? Back half looks the most inconsistent

Thanks. I'm on my 2nd tranny. 1st one lasted 8yrs before I managed to twist the input shaft (10 spline). I now have a 26spline in there. No missed shifts but I was toying with the shift points from 6800 to 7k and seeing how my mph was affected or maybe the temp dropped a degree or so. I don't know.

What did you do to correct your shifting issues you had at the last DH event?

I would love to put a T56 in my car but it will sadly never be in the budget

Well thanks to a friendly call to Anthony he recommended that I look into my clutch quadrant and adjuster. Turns out I had the cable on the wrong hook. I put it on the hook farthest from the firewall and BLAM! It let me powershift 3rd at 7000. I wasn't getting enough air gap with it on the other hook.

Iraq&roll- I'm using a spec stage 3+. Probably overkill on the car.
