A buddy had a 69 El Camino with a stick. For traction he put his fat cousin in the bed and ran 8.20's.
I don't think the track officials would let you do that now.

Society seems to frown on a bunch of things these days.

Tony, you must be a transplant.
Transplant! Dude, I only wear manly clothes. Nothing pink or lacy. No spandex either.

OK, I confess that I have a vague recollection of King of the Street stuff. Somewhere deep in my picture drawer should be a pic of me and my red '69 with a KOS trophy.

remember them well !!!!! ran my maverick in the first one .... 302 cam, headers, 456 gears and blew high gear on the first pass 10.20 ...
drove home in 2nd (c4).... 3k+ rpm at like 30mph........
ran my bone stock 1985 omni glh turbo in another one.... 10.00...
and then ran my bone stock 86 5.0 5speed coupe in another... 9.80...

i grew up with the guy that was the 98 rock chicken mascot... funny as hell in high school, he used to wear the chicken head and feet with a suit jacket and shorts to school....
sadly to say he passed away from brain cancer a couple years back...
