Do you remember...
Anybody remember 98 Rock "King of the Street" events at Sunshine?
Were you old enough to participate? Did you attend? Did it suck?

I'm thinking early to mid 80's. I know I was out of high school because I had a Road Runner that I wanted to run.

I remember for a fact. I took my lil brother and he sat on my friends shoulders who was a big guy, over 6' 280-300 pushed his way up front for the t shirt contest and one of the girls got totally naked. Now I believe the event in Bradenton the year before was a lot better.

Grew up in Wash DC till 87,.. then I was living in Ocala from 87 - 92,.. then back up to Md. Then moved to New Port Richey in 2000. I'd be old enough,.. just was not living here during that time. During that time I was running Metro, V St, Capitol raceway, Budds Creek, 75/80, Peace Cross,. those were all street hang outs when I was growing up.
Actually Ocala had a pretty decent street scene when I was there. Used to cruise the miracle mile on 40 from the Circle-k to the Burger King. Z93 radio used to come broadcast from the Ben Franklin parking lot till about 1am. They'd coerce cars to go out in the steet and do burn outs. Cops rare hassled you very much. Was one dickhead FHP guy,.. I forget his name. He was a prick. The rest were pretty cool. Circle-k is now some towel head store,.. Ben Franklins is now a Piggly Wiggly grocery store,.. the Burger King is still there. There is a new Dunkin donuts and across the street the ricer kids hang out at the new parts store parking lot. I cruised through,.. not a single muscle car in sight. Ben Franklin lot used to be crammed with GTO's, Road Runners, big block Chevelles, Camaro and Mustangs,.. Buick Skylarks and an occational GS,.. turbo GN every now and again,.. a few 5.0 cars. Used to get a few races setup,.. then head out to Lake Weir,.. that where the racing went down. I guess those days are gone forever. I saw nothing buy Civics, Eclipse, an older Rx7 and Lexus of some sort. Back in the day the only imports were the low rider Izuzu trucks. That was pretty much it.
Then in 2000 Tampa had a pretty good scene,.. but even by then it was already on a steady decline. Imports were killing it making asses out of themselves and drawing in the cops with their idiotic behavior. You would see abotu 9 or 10 domestic cars with 25 - 30 imports following us from spot to spot like mother goose.
