anyone ever had the.....
oh yes that pics looks kinda old as I see the people on the front and the jack plates under water. One of the new rules was that the boats must be able to float sitting still. Some of these boats where so back heavy that they would sometimes sink if there was some ripples in the water. Thats why we had moving starts. My buddy Kevin would be in the water hanging by the nose like he was just hanging out with me when in actually he was pulling down the nose so the back end would stay upright before the start.

GET SOME

the boats we raced did circles, not set up for drag. We would run up to over 110-118 then have to turn. Flat out I think one time we hit around 125. Now some of the drag boats well thats a whole nother world with them guys. Now you have to realize this is a short bucket seat with no seat belts. Once you reach over a 100 mph your beer gets sucked out of the can or bottle just like an air gun.

what was amazing is this was on the back straight going over 115 at around 74-7600 rpm. We saw a puff of smoke then a split second later the boat flips instantly, not back and forth, side to side but like right now. It throws Pat probably about 75 yards, he bounces on the water, on the first hit and is airborne over 15-18 feet looks like. Thank godness for his helmet and the rescue boat about 10 yards away when he pops up from under the water.

no no no, not while racing. When going in the intercoastals. We would make runs form the Don Ceasar to Clearwater Pass. Now this was before the No wake zones and you where allowed dry headers instead of wet headers. Thats when you would see a lot of these boats in the area. the new laws just killed this type of boat for recreational use. Oh yeah did I tell you we would also pull speed skiers and the look on peoples faces as we passed them through the pass.
