I'm kinda old, I've done the SCCA sports car thing and I was just looking for a way to have fun, I realize the 4 speed is a liability, but being 51 y/o, and seeing the pro stockers back in the late 60s rowing the 4 speeds, to me, that's part of the "fun" quotient, (I think Lencos ruined drag racing) The issue with sports car racing, besides the tows is that a mustang literaly eats tires on a road course, you also pick up a few dents and dings. This is purely a fun venture, I've spent enough money going fast in the past.
I really don't care if the car runs 12s or 11s, I just know the car gets more expensive at the 10.50 range because of the safety rules, and speed equipment. Personally, I think all electronics, with the possible exception of an ignition should be banned, but that's my old school talking.
Thanks for all of your replies.

I forgot to add, no kind of racing is cheap.... bracket racing can get very expensive. There are guys out there bracket racing with $100,000 cars. Granted, they are going a bit quicker than 11's but the classes have been merged... you could be an 11 second car racing a 7 second dragster....

The timing of the tree would be staggered in your favor but the top end speed of your opponents would be very hard to judge especially in a door car racing a dragster scenario...

There is just as much "driving" going on at the top end of the track as there is at the tree. Lots of braking, letting off...that kind of thing.

All that being said, it's a hell of a lot of fun so if that is what you want to do, do it up.

must tracks run 2 classes electronics and non electronics (foot brake)

It's called "sportsman" or "street" at most tracks IIRC.

The way I read this is that in 09 the track will run 1/8 mile , Dodge sportsman is the "class" , They also talk about 1/8 and a 1/4 payout?
I'm sorry, but to me, it's not real clear.
But I haven't done it for awhile
what combo will get you there in a 93 notch, 302, 4 speed (for me) an 8.8 with a 4.88 and what size rear tire?
the car willbe prety gutted, glass hood, front fenders, cut up doors and plexi side windows, no interior. connectors, an 11.00 roll bar.
Is the stock type rear suspension OK?

if nothing else with the slicks .welding the torque boxes are must. if the bushings are ok you could get a way with them for a while.

+1 on welding the torque boxes... you can get away with it for a few passes, but it's a must do. I'm having Tiffiny do mine soon.

Hey Tiffany, remember those 5 lugs pindles you sold me (that are still under my work bench with all the other parts, at my buddies shop), do you recall if they move the wheel out over the stock mustang or is it that just the spindle length is longer? I think they're lincolns or something?

should be the same as a gt .they came off a 90 lsc.4cyl a little different.you have to watch out what rims you use .the bearing dust cover on the rotor knocks the center cap out on some rims .if you are going to use welds or something similar no problem w dust cover
