Default Sweating it

Well, my 16 year old son just got his license today and I let him drive home his mustang I fixed up for him!!! Alone for the first time! Talk about nerve racking!! took pics of him getting in car, pulling out and leaving. Never thought I would feel so nervous, he's a good kid but I think i was 10 years older at 16 than him LOL.

I was going to do the same thing for my 16 y/o daughter. I had an 89 GT. I changed to 3:73's, and started fixing some minor issues. Put on some flows and some tails. The next thing was going to be a cam change. Did you hear that? WAS....My wife took it out and spun out in the rain. Not going fast, just around a corner, and spun out. Sooooo.....I sold it and got her a BMW 735i instead. Now I feel much more comfortable about my little girl driving it around. Of course, in another 2 years, I have to part with my 67 mustang cp.....Thats her HS graduation present....I'm gonna cry that day.

My step son just turned 14. We're doing a 86 GT for him for when he turns 16. Figure this is the best way,.. that way by the time he is ready to 'legally' drive it,.. he should know the car inside and out.

My daughter,.. I dunno what to do for her. She's the one I worry about. She would be the one who blasts down 19 at 100 mph doing her hair and make-up and talking on the phone. So I dont think I she will get a Mustang. Well,.. maybe not a V8.

i wish my parents got me a car for my 16th birthday. i worked and saved every penny i made to buy my camaro.(and every other car ive owned) ever since i was 15 and started working at my job ive bought all of my own stuff.

hopefully when i have kids and they get old enough, i'll have the money to buy them a nice car.

Yes!

And whatever you do, don't say to him "Whatever you do, don't wreck the car"....

The first day I got my license, my dad let me take out his brand new truck with my buddy and he said that to me....sure enough, I got in an accident (no my fault, but still....). Don't jinx it.....

My Dad and I put together my first car a 66' Stang. Every dime that I made From 13-16 was put into this car (motor, trans, rear) I never had an issue, was taught I had to respect it from beginning

i got my 91 when i was 16 (now 17). mines got quite a bit of mods too it, and its def enough car for me. you always want more, but its plenty as is. as long as he respects the car, and understands the potential risk of doing something retarded he should be fine. all the work done to my car was done by myself, so i have alot of pride in it. that goes a long way in thinking something over before doing it. i would never consider doing something i felt jeopardized the car or myself mainly because of the amount of work i have in it.

He saw how crappy the car was when I got it and helped to a lot of the work to make it what it is now so I hope that helps him appreciate it. He's a great kid and very responsible so hopefully everything is ok. He's definitely happier than a pig in shit!!
He also knows any tickets, accidents, or complaints and he loses driving privileges for a while so...................
