Alot of power for a kid but if he wants to keep it looking as good as it does now he'll learn some self control of the foot ESPECIALLY in the rain we all know how those stangs get down when wet...........

there was a guy selling a mustang last year we went and looked at he had it built for his son and when it was done he drove it home from the shop after paying for all the work and it scared the shit out of him getting on it and tailing out all over the road so he sold it before his son even got to take it around the block lol 347 with heads and a cam with some 410 gears is a little much for a 16 i told him it was the best thing he could have done besides give it to me

GOOD LUCK

Dang you guys were lucky! I drug a 54 ford out of a backyard for $20, got it running and drove it for awhile. (my dad wasn't a car guy) I made just under $15 working at a car wash on Saturdays. $4. for gas (it lasted a week) $6 for a pizza and a movie date and $5. for the rest of the week. If I mowed a couple of yards I could pull down another $12.
I was in high cotton in 1974.

its cool he had a chance for you and him to "restore" it before he got it. when i got mine i had to try and do it while using it as a DD (still in the process). but man its fun - i've had the motor out, trans out, trans rebuilt, motor rebuilt from the shortblock up, so on and so forward. fixing all the things that go wrong with these 18 year old cars. getting ready to do a complete refinish later this month.

be a little understanding on a ticket if he gets it (pending it isnt obvious that he was hauling). i know i've had a ticket since i got my stang (51 in a 35 - wasnt even in the mustang actually...had the intake off of it at the time) and i was simply moving at the pace of traffic, but got "picked out" of the group of cars.

and as for these things coming loose in the rain, man were you right about that. im glad i've been driving since i was young. ive had mine start to come around out of nowhere in the rain. was cruising 55 down 19 right as it started raining, wasnt even on the throttle and i guess the rear caught some oil and she slid right out on me. i caught it and let up before it had a chance to come around, but it sure as hell caught me off guard.

thats cool that he helped fix up the car, and now he gets to drive it.... it's gotta make him feel proud.... my 15 y/o son has helped me quite a bit with "whitey", if fact he just asked if we were gonna work on it at all before he goes back to his mom in gainsville, and i said sure, so i got a new set cometics, headstuds and block sealer so we can hopefully get it running this weekend before he leaves... then if he keeps his grades up, he'll get to make some motor passes in it....

Death trap for a 16 yr old in my opinion, NO way would I give my son a 5 liter.
Let him learn before you put the pressure of friends, speed, and the potential for a whole lotta shit to happen before he gets any experience.
