That is exactly how I own 25% of a bar in . It was a brilliant plan that my buddy had the whole time, and it worked.
I just wish I knew some people around here that I could trust, and/or knew some people looking to partner with someone who has some $$ and is willing to run the business.

We did our research and he had failed at 2 other businesses, so we knew it was risky for us. That is why we had strict guidelines for him. He followed our instructions for about 3 months, then fell into his old habits.
