Nope, not for speeding but for flippin' window tint. Unmarked sheriffs car sitting in the median on 60 outside of Plant City saw me drive by and drove up beside me and paced me for a minute and than jumped behind me to pull me over. Came up to the passenger side, I rolled down the window, he told me to put it up halfway as he put some measuring device on it. Said legal is 28%, mine was at 8%. Yes, I know I'm in the wrong but I have not been pulled over or any tickets in 14 years, so I figured I'd get off with a warning. Nope, ticket and 30 days to get the tint taken off or 2 points gets put on my license. What a joke, nothing better to do but pull a U turn and chase down a guy with dark window tint doing the speed limit. Anybody know of any tricks to get around this ticket and having to tear off all my tint?

I have always had limo tint and no problems.

 

1st off, I'm surprised some shop actually installed the illegal tint, because they know better.
2nd, check the law, you may only have to remove the driver's window tint.
3rd, yeah, it must have been a slow day for the cops.

316.29545 Window sunscreening exclusions; medical exemption; certain law enforcement vehicles exempt.-- (1) The department shall issue medical exemption certificates to persons who are afflicted with Lupus or similar medical conditions which require a limited exposure to light, which certificates shall entitle the person to whom the certificate is issued to have sunscreening material on the windshield, side windows, and windows behind the driver which is in violation of the requirements of ss. 316.2951-316.2957. The department shall provide, by rule, for the form of the medical certificate authorized by this section. At a minimum, the medical exemption certificate shall include a vehicle description with the make, model, year, vehicle identification number, medical exemption decal number issued for the vehicle, and the name of the person or persons who are the registered owners of the vehicle. A medical exemption certificate shall be nontransferable and shall become null and void upon the sale or transfer of the vehicle identified on the certificate.

 

He only cited me for the front windows, he did tell me my back 2 side windows and the back window of my truck was too dark as well. He told me he could write me a ticket for each window if he wanted. I was actually very respectful to him but got the shaft at the end.

 

Yep, I already saw that exemption, but I don't have lupus. I thought about calling my eye doctor and let him know about all the bad headaches I get everyday and how sensitive my eyes are to bright light.

do you have any friends that are officers or dep. or friends of friends? if so the LEO friend can sign the ticket saying it is fixed and you just pay the fine and show it was taking care of and your done no points. if not peel tint and then get it redone. (i know it sucks!) hope this helps!
