Caught a documentary on Discovery today that showed life after the disaster, and how wildlife has begun to flourish without mans involvement. I personally don't remember the incident (I was 7) but I hear the land is cheap!!

Yeah its pretty messed up. Could u imagine if it had happened here? I mean 3.5 million CHILDREN where affected. 1/2 a million just in Belarus.

 

Wow i had heard of chernobyl but never really new wat it was or anything that shit is crazy! But its kinda messed up they locked up everyone on that shift! Rep for a good find! And keepin me occupied while the fiance isn't talkin to me! lol!

That's what happens when you forego all the safety devices that the nuke plants have over here. Just like a bunch of commies to skip the important stuff, I wonder how much of them were on the take?
Something similar happened over here at three mile island and the reacotr shut itself down automatically. Any way, we better get used ot them they seem like the only real energy supply for the short term at least, especially since hte enviromental whacks won't allow any more dam building.

 

They are STILL effected. The babies born into that area are not quite right. They have sort of an exchange program for them - it's meant to get them into some "clean" air for a few months a year to help their bodies. It's a great program..kinda sad to think about there being a need for it.
