The Wanderers Full Movie 1979

One of my all time favorite films along with The Lord's of Flatbush, the Outsiders, Grease and West Side Story in the 50s. I love the location shooting in all the areas of Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx I grew up in! Love these classic gang films when gangs weren't drug dealers and just toughies like the Fordham baldies.

The way the chase scene is filmed with the music (Wipeout and Pipeline) is brilliant, you don't this kind of originality in film today, hats off to Phillip Kaufman!

Such a powerful moment when they are watching the news about the Kennedy assassination.....What a moment in time that must have been for the people who actually experienced this horrible day.

Its hard to imagine i actually lived in a time where gang fights were fought with fists, 2x4s and baseball bats, rarely did you see a knife and it was usually pulled by a guy getting beaten up pretty bad

The best part of this movie is Bob Dylan's performance in that little café and the fact this innocent girl could escape this gang crap. I was born in 1953 so I was 11 when these events happened and I remember the school classes were interrupted to announce President John F. Kennedy's assassination. Those were violent times and we often had to defend ourselves against the bullies.
