The last time I saw this car back in July 2018, it wasn't running due to a wiring issue under the dash, its not been on the road since then...until now.
The current owner David sent me this video today (May 11th 2020) as he has now got it up and running again. I'm hoping to visit Ohio again later this year (Covid 19 not withstanding) to start work on the film about Richard Ruth the builder of this car back in the early 70's. Note: The Chassis attachments below the rear bumper, where the camera rigs were attached.

THE '55 Chevy from the Movie Two Lane Blacktop

This is previously unpublished footage of the original "camera car" from the Two Lane Blacktop Movie starring James Taylor, Laurie Bird, Dennis Wilson and Warren Oates. Built by Richard Ruth of Ruth Industries in the early 1970's. I filmed this myself when I visited the new owner of the car in July 2018

Randy Smelcer's 55 Chevy

I shot this video of Randy Smelcer's "Two-Lane Blacktop" 55 Chevy, leaving the parking lot at the 2016 Chattanooga Cruise-In.

The real car was primer....this is shiny
The real car had radiused rear fender openings, not straight at the back edge.
