it wasnt stolen, Z06 have been having issues with the glue coming off the roof panel in warmer climates and under high speed winds(driving real fast). If you look all the interior stuff was removed before hand. I guess the story goes they were out with some car club, thus the lambo and ferrari that rolled by, and the top started coming off. So they instead of dealing with it flapping around while they were driving spiratedly and having to worry about it coming off they decided to kick it out and make a vid of it to freak everyone out.
